Answers
Does sclerotherapy hurt?
No, we use a very small needle (the same size as Botox
injections) for sclerotherapy.
Do laser treatments hurt?
No, we use a laser that has a patented cryogen cooling
system that anesthetizes the skin before, during, and after
treatment.
Can you do anything for the ugly veins I have on my
hands? Chest? Face?
Yes. Sclerotherapy and/or laser treatment can be used to
remove unwanted veins at any location.
Where does my blood go once the veins are gone?
The simple fact that you have varicose/spider veins means
that your body has already provided alternative routes for
your blood to return to your heart. Removal of venous
insufficiency actually improves circulation
Will I need to be driven home the day of the treatment?
No, patients return to daily activities immediately. In
fact, we encourage you to walk around after the procedure.
Will insurance pay for my treatment?
Some insurance companies pay for surgical treatment of
venous disorders. They often grossly underpay the provider
to discourage treatment (esp Blue Cross.) We do not
contract with insurance companies because they provide no
incentive for physicians to learn the latest minimally
invasive techniques and/or invest in the equipment needed to
perform these procedures outside a hospital. Unfortunately,
this means our patients must pay the fee at the time of
service, and they will be reimbursed a variable amount by
their insurance company.
We have a full-time Certified
Professional Coder who knows the inside workings of medical
insurance companies. She will be more than happy to bill
your insurance company for your reimbursement following
treatment.
